Last night, I tried to boot up my Atari 1040ST and the hard drive made horrible bearing friction noises...I tried again and now I only see floppy disc icons on the desktop, so I believe the drive is dead. The drive makes no noise now.. The drive is mounted in an external case connected with a 25 pin cable to the 1040STE. The power supply powers up and the yellow (access?) light blinks a few times, but I don't think the drives is coming up... (The drive model # is an ST157N.)

Naturally, being a true bozo, I haven't backed up my recent midi files and would REALLY like to recover them...

Any suggestions...or personal experience with HONEST (and inexpensive) Disc Drive Recovery places?

Thanks Matthew Walter
