The original console was just called the "Atari VCS" where VCS was video computer system. There are two early versions, one has 6 switches (and has hence been nicknamed Big Six, or Stella 6) and has a wooden veneer. The other has 4 switches and a black casing. There is also a third incarnation called the Atari 2600, which was a sleek black number with a metal strip. If you are looking to get hold of one of these in the UK, I suggest you look on Ebay (www.ebay.co.uk). You can get a 6 switch (original) model for about 30 pounds. Bye!

Ian.
