I almost forgot there was one other point I wanted to make. If you use a parallel zip drive you would also need a specific driver for the ST which means searching the web or user group pd libraries for a driver and since the ST was already in decline by the time the Zip drive became popular, this would be a difficult search. The main reason the SCSI solution works so much better, is that you can set up the Zip as a user defined hard drive like in the BIOS settings of the PC. You need to know all the info like number of tracks, number of cylinders,cluster size etc. I hope this and my previous post helped clear things up a little for you.
